Music on the computer

We love to listen to music on the ipod or on you tube. Sawyer was sitting at my desk the other day jamming to good tunes! I am so glad my girls have such good taste in music. "Chances" by Five for Fighting is our favorite song. The girls and I can listen to that man sing all day long!

Special surprise

Sydney has been so excited about Christmas this year. We talk about Santa all of the time. She wants a new princess dress and princess shoes and a princess crown for Christmas.

Guess who got her a new pretty princess dress? Santa rescued me so now I won't have to wash the yellow princess dress everyday : )

Boogie sucker

Sydy has a little cold. Neither of the girls have been sick much at all since I started staying home with them last winter. We haven't had a sick doctor visit in FOREVER. Now that she is in preschool, she gets an occasional runny nose, but it never seems to be a bother to her.

She has been congested for a few days so I use nasal saline and a nasal aspirator to clear her nose. Most kids freak out at this whole process, but Sydney doesn't mind it at all. The other day the "boogie sucker" and nasal spray was sitting on the counter and she brought it over to me and asked me to give her the medicine! Crazy, isn't it??

The girls were in the tub this morning and I used the aspirator to clear her nose. Sawyer wanted to play with it and the next thing I see is her putting it in Sydney's nose. I quickly raced downstairs to grab the camera. This game carried on for a few minutes. I was so entertained by their antics!!!! Seriously, these girls are the best of buddies. I love it. Even when they are sticking things into each other's faces!

Note Sawyer's expression in the picture. She is scrunching up her little nose. Hysterical.

Gingerbread men and trees

I was in the mood to craft the other day so I got a recipe for gingerbread cutouts. Not the kind you can eat, but rather the kind that has glue and tons of spices! They smell so good. Apparently I am not as crafty as I used to be since they turned out pretty ugly....but the girls had fun helping me and they love to see the gingerbread men and trees hanging up as decorations.

Just some random photos

Someone has a cold. Poor thing. She bounces back from them quickly though!

The day after we got out tree, we decorated it. Sydy loved helping but Sawyer wasn't much into it. She was more interested in running around with the ornaments.

We saw Santa's reindeer at the farm the other day when we picked up the xmas tree. The girls loved looking at the beautiful animals.
We borrowed a few xmas movies from a friend. I layed blankets on the floor and the girls curled up for a movie night.

Potty time

Look who has been sitting on the potty! She sure does think she is a big girl...and so do I.

Starbucks

My former coworker and friend, Liz can appreciate this post! She and I used to hit the downtown coffee shops almost everyday at work. Starbucks was our favorite. Now that I am home, I brew my coffee at home most days. On occasion I will treat myself to a Starbucks when I have to go shopping at Target. The other day I felt like treating the girls to a hot cocoa while I made my coffee run. They loved it! Later that evening I told Jim that I might have made a mistake because they might expect a cocoa the next time I want a cup of coffee.

This morning we had to take Daddy into work because the Mazda truck is in the shop again (don't get me started). I stopped to get a cup of coffee and from the backseat I heard request from both girls asking for hot cocoa!!! Needless to say, I am not stopping there very often because what used to be a 4.50 purchase has now turned into a 7.30 purchase. NO THANK YOU!

They sure did look adorable sipping their short cup - kid temp - hot cocoa. More photos of Sawyer because Sydy was sitting in the bright sun and I didn't have my flash on the camera.

Christmas Tree Adventure

We had an amazing time this afternoon as we went searching for the perfect x-mas tree! The weather was perfect and the girls had a great time walking the fields. I will write more tomorrow, but for tonight, I am going to park my tired self on the couch and read a book.

Randomness

I have a lot on my mind, but very little desire to sit down at the computer tonight. So here are some random things going on in our world.

- it has been so bitterly cold out lately and the girls and I don't like being stuck inside. On several occasions this week, we played in the garage. The girls loved riding their bikes around on the concrete floor. Our garage is detached and not well insulated, so it was still cold, but much better than outside. This has really motivated Jim and I to get our basement cleaned out and get the drywall hung so that the girls can have a place to pedal around.

- Jim was out of town on Wednesday and Thursday. The girls and I were at the photo shop the other night to pick up all of my print orders and we decided to stop at Price Chopper for their Wednesday night family meal. THANK YOU KARYN for reminding me of this wonderful deal. Feeds 4 people for $10. Can't beat that. The meal was so yummy and I didn't have to cook...bonus!

- As mentioned, Jim was out of town. Wednesday evening I was bathing the girls. I filled the water up pretty deep as they like to play in the tub so much. I was just tipping Sawyer back into the water to wet her hair when the power suddenly went off!! Freakin' freaked me out to say the least. It was pitch black, the girls were in deep tub water and I had no light and no way to get light. I was just about to drain the water in order to run downstairs to get a candle but the power came back on. Cool...right!....no, about an hour later the power went back off. Luckily I had the foresight to light candles just in case. Jim's coworker was stopping by to drop something off. He entertained the girls for a minute while I called the power company. Power was expected to stay out until 9:30 or so. I put the girls to bed early and then I went downstairs to read by candlelight. It finally got too chilly for me, so I headed upstairs to bed. Around 10 pm the power came back on. ONLY WHEN JIM IS OUT OF TOWN does this kind of stuff happen!!! He was out of town last winter when a nasty snow storm kept me stuck inside until Mike could plow me out. I should request that GE not send Jim out of town in the winter time!!

- We got a box of fruit from Jim's great aunt who lives in California. She must not have our new address, so it was delivered to the old house. Luckily the couple that bought our old house were kind enough to contact us. I stopped over to pick the fruit up and Lisa invited me in. It was so fun to see what they did to the house. I was there only a moment but I enjoyed seeing their changes. I am glad they are happy there. We were happy there also, but we just still can't believe that fate brought us to our current house, the one we desperately wanted 8 years ago when we first moved to NY. Funny how things just happen.

- I babysat for my friend's two kids the other night. My girls had so much fun having them over in the evening. The kids stayed until a little after 9pm. This is past the girls' bedtime of 7:30, but they did great. Needless to say, I put them to bed right after our friends left. I helped them brush their teeth and I changed Sawyer's diaper. We were in her room and she kept asking for her blanket. I left her in her room to help Sydney go potty and get her jammies back on. By the time I got back to Sawyer's room, I discovered her curled up on the floor with her quilt and she was sound asleep! So sweet. She was so exhausted from playing so hard with the kids. Here are a few photos of her sound asleep on her floor. I gently picked her up and tucked her in and she never woke up! Sleepy baby girl.

Baby in the mirror

Sydney was looking at her soon to be new baby cousin in the mirror. It was very touching watching Sydney admiring Aunt Jen's belly. She even hugged the baby. We love this baby so much already. Can't wait to meet this little one in 20 more weeks!

Nana's kids

We had a nice Thanksgiving in Pennsylvania visiting the family. I didn't take many pictures at all...shocking. Here is a picture of the four grandbabies. We are anxious for the fifth one to arrive this spring!

Nana's favorites : )
