Hula Dancing

Warm evening, dress up clothes, what could be better?  The girls watched Lilo and Stitch the other day and have been all about hula dancing ever since!  We went outside the other night so they could hula in the yard!  Crazy warm weather.  Now this coming week is going to be MISERABLE!  Not good!

I couldn't believe how quickly I was losing light while taking this photos.  We stayed outside until it was dark.  Not ready to switch the clocks back and lose even more light.  Ugh.

Glitter

I follow a photographer in Texas.  She has an amazing way of photographing children and families.  Her composition never ceases to amaze me.  I also love her clean editing style as I have always strived to do little editing to my photographs.  She posted a picture to her facebook yesterday of a little girl blowing glitter into the air.  I fell in love with the image right away and knew that I wanted to reacreate with the girls.  Sawyer and I had to run several errands today so I added a stop to the craft store for glitter.  Within 10 frames, I got 2 images that I love!  Maybe for the holidays I will do more decorative clothes and a headband, but for now, I love these 2 shots!  She rocked it.  Glitter was everywhere, but it was worth it!

On another note, not long after I saw this photo composition on facebook, a friend posted a quote to her Instagram feed.  It couldn't have been a more perfect quote for this picture.  The non designer that I am just added a simple text to the second image.

Painted playroom

We had the playroom painted today.  I have had the color scheme of aqua and orange on my mind for a while now.  I have found lots of inspiration on Pinterest and just find that I gravitate to bold colors.  Excuse the crappy iPhone pix, I just didn't get a chance to take photos with the real camera and really want to wait until I get some decor on the walls before I bother!

I love the color combo and it really works in this space with the vanilla colored furniture.  The girls love it.  They were very excited when the guys finished up this afternoon.

I can't wait to get some art work on the walls.  For now, just the color combo.  Most major walls are aqua with accents of the orange on small walls.

Making New Memories

Some of our most favorite NY activities were apple picking at a local orchard each September and Pumpkin Picking and Christmas tree chopping at a local farm in October and December.  Now that we are PA, we want to create new memories for the girls.  We spent a wonderful day with the family at a local orchard this weekend.  Local craft vendors, hayride to pick pumpkins, food vendors, etc.  It was fun being able to share these activities with my family.

Sydney was so excited when she spotted the patch of pumpkins.  The anticipation was too much!

 Emma and her Daddy.

Sydney was completely enthralled with the milkweed!  Daddy showed them how to break it opened and look at the silky threads inside.
The girls kept asking to ride the Moo Moo Choo Choo.  We had to remind them that they rode the moo moo choo choo last week in NY but now we were riding this one here in PA.

Soybean loves her new hair ribbon.

I love that Sawyer is holding on so tightly to Emma!  So sweet.

A few more

Ah, they just melt my heart.  I got some really cute shots of them the other night.  Wish I could print them all.  I will settle for one print in their playroom and one upstairs!

Pictures for school

I want to attach a picture of the girls to the Halloween goody bags I am making for their school friends.  Tonight was so warm and beautiful so we put on our costumes and I got several adorable images of each of them and then one of the both of them that I absolutely love!

Precious

These little ladies have been all about doing photos together!  I love it!  Now I have two "together" images that are my absolute favorites!  One from the summer at the lake and this one from this beautiful fall evening!

They got a piece of chocolate for this one!

I love these girls more than words can say.

Oh Wow

Jim and I are just sitting here doing our computer things.  He just checked the Times Union and saw the headlines for the rock slide in Fort Ann, NY.  The first 911 calls came in at 9 am.  Can I just say how freakish this is to look at considering we were just driving by this rock wall at around 8:40 this morning as we left camp to drive home to PA.  Talk about scary. Within 15-20 minutes of us passing this spot on the road, massive rocks came crashing into the road.

I am so glad to know that no one was hurt in this rock slide.

Whirlwind Weekend

CrAzY weekend for sure.  We headed to NY on Saturday morning to spend a few hours at our favorite family pumpkin/tree farm before I spent the evening shooting maternity pictures for a good friend and long time customer.

Got to spend a few hours with friends and the farm too.  The girls loved running around at one of our favorite spots in NY.  Thanks, as always, E family for the great family fun!  We will be there every fall!

After I finished shooting that evening, we drove the rest of the way to camp.  The girls were troopers.  They were tired from all the farm activities but stayed awake until we arrived to camp.

Jim built a fire in the wood burner and had the house warmed up quickly (along with the heat).  The next morning he spent a few hours covering the boat up.  The weather was horrific so we decided to take an impromptu trip to The Vermont Country Store.  Holy Moly!  We were in heaven.  Jim picked out some wine, cheese and crackers.  I found some unique hand salve, all natural sinus relief rub, lip balm (of course since I am addicted to chap).  We bought some candy treats for the girls too.

The store is amazing.  I always love looking through their catalog at mom and dad's. The store carries such unique things that you can't find in most stores.  The girls were phenomenal!  The store was so crowded but they rocked.  We were proud of them.  Jim and I had such a blast and we were so glad that our last minute decision resulted in such a fun day for us!

Another evening at the lake house and another fire in the wood stove that evening.  Jim and I were suffocating (not really, but still so toasty)!  The house got up to 80 degrees and I know that most of you know that I keep my regular home at 66 in the winter time.  I was roasting!  Then reality hit when we got home today and the house was at 66 degrees.  Jim said to me just a little bit ago that he misses his wood stove at camp!

Anyway, it was a whirlwind and I didn't exactly love spending 7 hours in the car on my birthday.  Bu I did appreciate all of the well wishes from everyone and I really appreciated that mom left a cake on my counter for when we got home! Thanks Mom!  That was a nice surprise!

Just one picture of my girls from the weekend.

Field Trip

Sydney had her first field trip of the school year.  I was happy to be selected as the mommy helper and I was even happier that I had the camera to take pictures of all of Sydney's school friends.

The pumpkin patch was a hit with all of the kids.  It was freezing that morning but they all had fun regardless of the cold drizzle.

Just a quick one of Sydney clutching her "perfect" pumpkin.

Back outside

Seems like we haven't been playing outside as much as usual.  The weather has been iffy and we have been swimming after nap time so we haven't been outside much beyond a walk with the dog.  Tonight was perfect.  Daddy was running late, Jared was coming to visit later so I decided to hold off on dinner and just play outside in the pretty sunlight.  The girls were content to do sidewalk chalk for a few minutes but then decided they wanted to bike up and down the driveway.

Perfect night for biking.  The neighbor boy came out to ride with the girls for a while too.  My girls love to hang with the older kids so much.

I am waiting for all of the trees to change colors.  We have a few that are very vibrant, some have lost the leaves and some that are still mostly green.  Weird.
 Sparkling sky.

The ugly juniper trees are coming down.  How mismatched do they look in this photo below!  Gotta figure out an alternative to the two shrubs!
Some little girl was being a bit of a grump.  She doesn't feel good.  Crazy germs.

A whole lot of randomness

I am here, just a bit crazy around here lately.  Jim was in India all of last week so things have been a bit crazy. He spent his birthday weekend trying to readjust to the time difference and ridiculous number of hours in a plane!

We did a quick little family gathering for his 40th birthday.  Thanks to the family for being able to stop over so last minute.  I didn't want to plan anything for fewar that he just wouldn't be up for company.

While he is away, I run around like a crazy person doing it alone.  Needless to say, Friday night I was in bed sound asleep by 8:30pm!

Anyway, here are some random photos I took over the last week or so.

Loving up on Emma G.

Keeping busy while big sister is at school.
 Being goofy for mommy's camera.

 A few snuggles with Jared.

Just watching

I just love to watch them play.  Then when I get bored watching them...

... I torture them with the camera and get looks like this!

On a random note, did I ever mention how much Sydney likes to make beds?  She loves it.  This summer at camp she would make my bed everyday.  I didn't even care that she threw my blankets and pillows on the dusty wood floor!  It was just too much fun watching her taking her time and making it so nicely.

Here she is making our bed at home.  At least our master bedroom at home has carpet so our pillows don't get too dusty like they did at camp!  Excuse the builder beige and undecorated bedroom walls.  We focused on the main and visible rooms in the house.  Hopefully this will be a winter painting project.  Ugh!
