Yes, I just uttered those words. But really, if it is going to be cold and winter, we may as well have snow so the girls can play. We went over to our friends' house a few times in the last few days to sled ride with their boys. They have had so much fun.
No school today meant lots of time outside. Thankfully it wasn't cold out, so we could spend lots of time out there playing comfortably!

Sawyer Molly Got a Haircut
She's been asking about getting her hair cut short ever since I chopped my hair off. So when Daddy said he needed a haircut, Sawyer asked to go with him so she could get her hair done too! Jim kept texting me pictures while she was getting it cut! So cute. She looks like such a big girl! I can't even...!!!!

cookie pictures
My friend and I went downtown today so I could buy cookies to photograph. She and I enjoy baking together and have talked about baking these fancy French Macarons together. We didn't want to attempt these complicated cookies until we actually tried them to determine if we even liked them! The cookies are a bit too sweet for my taste, but they are so beautiful and fun to photograph, so I will most certainly be attempting to make them. Only fancier and with more icing! Then I will reattempt to photograph them for more artwork on my walls!!!

Cupcakes
I think the littlest girls enjoyed the cupcakes from Pap Pap's birthday celebration this past weekend.

Reading
I counted 5 couches and two comfy chairs in our house, yet this is where she decided to read! Silly Sydney! As you can see from the piles of books on the desk and on the floor, I need a new book shelf or more bins to control the chaos!
Dad's Birthday!
In November my mom watched the girls while Jim and I travelled to NY for a pro football game. Since she was watching the girls on her birthday, Jim and I treated her to a Honey Baked ham and cupcakes so she could celebrate her day while watching the girls. I figured it would be fun to treat Dad to a lunch at our house this weekend for his birthday too. At least this time we were here to celebrate with everyone! Clem's BBQ and cupcakes!
Here is Pap Pap with 4 of his 6 grandkids!

Journal
I bought the girls new journals for homework the other day. Sydney will now be starting spelling lessons and I figured it would be good to have a notebook to store all the info in. She is being given a list of words that are "no-excuse" words. Meaning, she needs to spell these words correctly in writing. I quized her on them and she missed only one of them!
Anyway, Sawyer likes to sit down and do homework whenever I am working with Sydney. She wanted to write down the no excuse words too. I was highly impressed with how well she wrote them down too! It was fun watching Sydney helping her out when she got stuck with a word. After we went swimming I suggested that they both write a story about swimming and how well they were diving in the deep end and swimming laps back and forth. I sat with Sawyer while she did her sentences and couldn't believe how far she has come since the beginning of the Kinder school year!
It seems as though Sydney's love of writing is rubbing off on Sawyer too!!
"I went to the pool with my mom and sister Sydney. I did dives with my sister. We had a great time. We had a really really had a great time. Dad bought us new goggles."
So proud of you Sawyer Molly!!!

2 hour day shenanigans
What two hour day shenanigans in the sparkling, snowy morning light looks like!! Messy ponytails after lots of trampoline jumping, little girls who sneak too much sparkling lip gloss and lots of library book reading. I love two hour delays!!

Wimpy dog
Wimpy pup got her nails clipped last night. She hid under the coffee table even after I put the clippers away. Silly dog!
Back to reality
The holiday break was quiet, fun and relaxing. I thought the girls would have a harder time getting in gear for school this morning, but they surprised me by making our first day back super easy. Over vacation they have maintained a normal sleep schedule. We have been playing outside, hiking or bike riding whenever possible. But I have had them in the basement jumping on the trampoline a ton! They go to bed at 7:30 and have been sleeping in until 7am!!!! Much better than 6:15 or 6:30. I'm guessing all the extra jumping is tiring them out a bit! Our favorite winter activity. I plan to get them to the pool a lot this winter too, as we always do.
Anyway, they looked so cute this morning that I had to get a picture. Back to school and routine. Sure do miss them, but wow, did I get a ton of stuff done today!
