6th Birthday Portraits
Poor Sawyer has to put up with outdoor pictures for her freezing winter birthday. Record low temps in February made it impossible for me to take outdoor photos for her birthday. So tonight we enjoyed the sunshine and above freezing cold temps! She rocked! Ice cream bribes work for her!

Random fun and games
Just some random afternoon of playing quietly! Sweet, sweet girls. Each other's best friends.
Every time I turn around these two are reading a book. I love it!
She was pretending that the markers were crutches. Ok, whatever works, kid!

Gotta wear shades
I ordered a new pair of Rx sunglasses. I went with the same frame since I love them so much, but needed a second backup pair. I had a close call last summer at camp and got all wigged out that I didn't have a second pair with me. I can't live without them during the summer months. Anyway, I promised the girls I would buy them a cute pair of sunglasses when I picked mine up. The cheapy ones never last and Sydney is a bit sensitive to the sunlight while on the boat. I don't mind paying a little extra for a better pair. Go figure, I took them with us to Vermont but forget to grab them for skiing. Sorry girls!
Cute girls in their cute shades!

Mud mud and more mud
As I have said before, where there is water, mud and dirt, there is Sydney and Sawyer. My nature girls live for this kind of weather and these kind of yard conditions!!! I have a love, hate relationship with spring. I love the warming temperatures, the promise of green, the long outdoor walks, but I despise the gross, saturated and muddy yard. It only takes a few short weeks to melt all the snow and thaw the ground, but in between, I have to deal with MUD, MUD and dog messes too....hehehehe
Double Trouble and Basement Progress
Jim started working on the basement right after Christmas. Weekends and a few evenings here and there. It looks pretty awesome! He finished the drywall hanging yesterday. The lighting and electrical were done a few weeks ago. He put in recessed ceiling lighting and outlets all along the walls per code. It sure is nice being married to a handyman! We hired a contractor to come in to tape and mud the drywall. She will be here next weekend. Can't wait! Way to go Jim! Now the trampoline room will be toasty warm. After they grow out of the trampolines, we will eventually turn this into a theatre room. For now, we are keeping the floors concrete so the girls can scooter and jump in here.
Speaking of trampoline. Just recently the girls reached the weight limit for jumping together. I felt sick to my stomach knowing that they couldn't jump together anymore. This has been our lifeline during the cold dark months of winter for over two years! We decided that another trampoline would be the best option. Jim finished the drywall yesterday and put the new trampoline together this afternoon! The girls were so excited to have their own. Now they can do lots of splits without having to shove eachother out of the way! I think they will miss jumping together, buy safety first!
The backside of this wall is our storage area. It is the whole backside of the basement. Still a large area. The other side of the basement is the finished playroom.
He will do all the trim work after the drywall contractor finishes her taping and mudding. I will paint everything very white as I might try to turn one wall into a photo wall for pictures of the girls. I'll have to dust of my lighting equipment!
Nice work, honey. I love how handy you are! Your girls appreciate all you do!

Spring Break 2015
The girls and I made a very last minute decision (I mean, very last minute decision - like one hour to pack and get showered before I drove out) to head to Vermont to ski with Papa over spring break! I am so glad we did!! The girls and I had such a good time cheering Papa up and Papa had a great time rekindling the girls' love of skiing. The drive was long, the visit was short, but we had such an awesome visit.
Papa arranged for the girls to take a two hour (more like 3 hour) private ski lesson with his buddy and fellow Killington staff person. Kinley was so amazing. We ate breakfast with he and Papa then Papa went off to ski while Kinley took the girls through their lesson. After the lesson we all jumped into the gondola and had lunch at an amazing restaraunt at the top of the mountain. Papa and Kinley ate more food in one sitting than I can eat all day! I guess skiing makes them work up an appetite!
After the lesson we headed back down and enjoyed more skiing with Papa. I followed them up and down the hill with my camera! They weren't exactly thrilled, but did have fun showing off for me. I took a ton of videos so Jim could see how well they were doing! He texted me saying that he kept watching the videos over and over and was so proud of them!
Swimming the next day at Papa's condo was so much fun. It is pretty cool to swim outside in 35 degree weather with the snow along the sidewalk and the big ski mountain right behind us. Then a quick bite to eat and more skiing that afternoon! To say that they were exhausted that night, is a complete understatement!
The 7 hour drive each way was a bit much for me for such a short trip but I am so glad we did it. It will likely become a regular spring break tradition. Next year I will just take the girls out of school for the two other days and spend the whole week at our camp and Killington (only a little over an hour drive from camp to Papa's condo).
We got an early start home on Wednesday but I promised the girls they could have ice cream at Stewart's on our way out of upstate NY. The lady scooping their ice cream was amused that she was serving it at 9:40 in the morning. I told her we couldn't leave town without it, no matter what time it was!!! Even the UPS guy in the parking lot was joking with me! As much as I wanted some, I just couldn't bring myself to eat ice cream for breakfast. I reasoned that I will have all this summer to eat Stewarts ice cream!
We can't thank Papa enough for this wonderful vacation! Thanks for spoiling your grandbabies and me too!
Lots of pictures!
The gondolas in the distance and the moutain top restaurant!
Kinley and the girls. He was the best! A grandfather too. So he knew just how to work with my girls.
Papa and his grandbabies!
At the top of the mountain! Ready to refuel with yummy food after all the lessons.
The girls wanted to ski down the double black diamond with Papa and Mr. Kinley. I told them maybe in a few years!!!!
Watching Papa ski the double black from the safety and comfort of the gondola!
No fear!
Papa was so impressed with how well they were skiing.
The girls loved riding up the hillside on the "magic carpet". Sure beats the old tow ropes!
This guy. Just days out of the hospital and already back at the top of the mountain. Dedication!
Sun and clouds and off camera flash to create the pretty vibrant snow and sky colors. This is just a tiny portion of the slopes. Next year I hope to see more of the resort.

Doggy Cuddles
Old girl Izzy is turing 13 years old in a few days. These last few months have been hard on her. Pain in her back, hips and neck. Supplements are helping, but it is so hard to watch her age and slow down. She still has a happy disposition.
She and Mia were begging for dinner early last night. The extra daylight seems to be throwing their schedule off! Even though they have to wait for Daddy to get home every night before dinner, it doesn't stop them from begging an hour too early!
They were cuddling by the pantry door last night so I had to take some pictures.

Curlers
Sawyer got a American girl doll salon accessories for her birthday. I was pretty impressed with how well she put the curlers in her dolls hair! The picture would have been perfect had I put curlers in Sawyer's hair too!!
