This picture doesn't really do this new reclaimed wall justice. The breakfast nook wall has been blank for almost all 4 years we have been in this house! It drove me crazy! I could never find the right decor for this tall wall. I had the idea to put reclaimed wood halfway up the wall. I happened to run into a young man at a local home decor store when he was bringing some of his furniture pieces in for consignment. I stopped him and asked if he by chance had any reclaimed wood that would work on a wall. He said he had just torn down wood from a local old cabin. He showed me a sample piece of the wood! It was meant to be! Perfect look, perfect shade of blue/gray wood. He prepped the wood and a few weeks later, came to install the half wall in our breakfast nook. I couldn't be more in love with the way it turned out. Simple, but high impact. Matching perfectly with my favorite cottage/modern chairs. Someday I will upgrade our table, but for now, we abuse this poor table. So now my nook space is simple, but complete.

Haircuts
The girls got their haircut the other day. Long overdue. I told the stylist to cut all the chlorine damage out and to cut it shorter for the summer. Sydney decided to do a stacked bob like Sawyer. I didn't get a picture of Sydney, but Sawyer wanted to pose for a photo with her new 'do! She's so funny!
My almost 9 year old!!!!
In keeping with tradition, we celebrated Sydney's upcoming birthday with our family this weekend. With all that we had going on in the last two very crazy, busy weeks, I told Sydney that we were going to play it low key for her celebration. Make your own trail mix for the girls, pizza and salad from our favorite pizza shop, campfire cake from our favorite baker and time spent with our family before we leave for camp. Just what the birthday girl wanted!
Last Day of School
Sydney finished her 2nd grade year and Sawyer finished her 1st grade year! So proud of my hard workers! They love school and work hard everyday! Looking forward to seeing them grow even more in the next school year. But wow, was I ready for summer to arrive! Between school and swim team, we are ready for a break!

Bound for the lake tomorrow!!! Anticipating the wonderful adventures we will have this summer. I'm guessing this will be our most EPIC summer so far. Youth kayaks for the girls and a new paddleboard for us all! Hiking and swimming everyday. Finding lake glass, treasures, turtles and frogs (while trying to avoid the snakes). Boating, rock cliff jumping, trips to the ice cream shop! Visits from out of town friends and NY friends. Can't think of a better way to spend our days.
