Playtime

We have all been sick with colds this week so we spent a lot of time in the house playing. Sydney has been the most healthy of us all. I actually got a smile out of her in this photo. Amazing.
Note Sydy's concentration in this photo. She found a lady bug. Enough said!

Look at the light hitting her curls. I see lots of red tints to her hair. Just like her Nana's hair! Yes, she is sitting on her play table. I have lost the battle with her so many times, I just decided to give up the fight. I caught her standing on it the other day...she and I had a screaming match over that one...she lost and I won! Crazy daredevil child.

Halloween Preschoool Party photos

Sydney's school Halloween party was yesterday. It was really fun watching the kids run around in their costumes. Sawyer slept through almost the entire event!

I dropped Sydy off at school at the usual time and then headed home with Sawyer. She still has the sniffles, so I didn't want her hanging around witht he other kids. I arrived back at school a little early and helped all of the kids get into their costumes. As soon as Mrs. F gave them permission to get their costumes, Sydy was the first to run out, grab her bag and rip off her shirt. She really wanted to get into her cupcake costume! Hysterical.

All of the parents waited outside in the playground and each child walked out of the door one by one. Some of the kids were being shy so they walked out with a friend. My girl not only walked out by herself but she started to dance around in her pretty little costumes. The parents around me got a big chuckle out of that!

Here is my little cupcake.

Enlarged

I took this photo last month during our annual apple picking outting. It very quicly became my favorite shot. I happened to catch the moment with the camera in hand.

Here it is enlarged to 18x24 and mounted to foamboard.

Breakfast girl

Breakfast is by far Sawyer's favorite meal of the day. She can eat adult sized portions of plain cheerios or rice crispies. It is hysterical. It is even more amusing watching her drink every last drop of milk from her bowl. So cute.

Halloween Preschool Party

Sydney's preschool is having their Halloween celebration and parade tomorrow. I can't wait! I am looking forward to seeing she and all of her classmates dressed in their costumes and fueled up on special treats! Should make for some great pictures.

I have a special feeling in my heart knowing that I have some extra time to devote to these type of activities. I made some little goody bags for her classmates. Just a few treats for them to take home after their party.

Cold season

Well the girls and I all have colds. Sydy started to get the sniffles the day we were leaving for grandma and papa's. Then I started to feel a little icky the day we were leaving. Now poor Sawyer has it!

She came downstairs this morning and while she was waiting for me to pour her milk, she points to her throat and says "boo-boo." Aw, so cute. Poor thing.

Back from the beach

We just got back from the beach this evening. Grandma and Papa had a great time hanging with the girls. It was a nice weekend and the weather was beautiful. We took a walk to the neighbors' dock on the first night. It was just past sunset and the sky was beautiful.

Papa and Sydy enjoyed the view. High ISO and wide open aperture makes for a noisy and soft focused picture, but I love it anyway. What a sweet moment.

So I had my hopes set high that the girls would be cooperative for their "beach photo shoot." I should have known better! They were so well behaved but they were just way to curious and adventurous to sit still for a nice photo. Jim put it into perspective for me by reminding me that the girls have only been to the ocean a few times so they want to explore. Explore they did! They had fun!

This photo cracks me up. Sydy couldn't get to the ocean water fast enough. She was dragging Sawyer with her!
Look at their little footprints in the sand! I love it.

I took this same shot a couple of months ago when we visited the beach in the summer. It is going to be a yearly shot! I love it so much.
This is my all time FaVoRiTe picture of Sydney ever!!! We got to the beach too early for me to shoot and Soybean fell alseep. We decided to stop in Margate to see the giant elephant. She was so excited. I got her to sit down on this bench and Daddy got her giggling over something. I love it!!!
We took a walk on the boardwalk with Papa on our last morning. Soybean fell asleep at the end of our walk. We took the stroller down to the beach and Sydy and I played in the surf for a little while. I think she would have gone swimming if I had let her! The water was cold but we were having too much fun to care. After we got back from the beach, we showered, packed and then had lunch with Grandma and Papa at a local seafood place. We got back on the road after lunch. As usual, the girls are amazing travelers. It didn't take them long to fall asleep (me too). They sang songs, they chatted and they only squawked for a second or two the whole trip! Those good girls.
Thanks for a great visit Grandma and Papa. We miss you already.

Photo shoot

A few weeks ago Jim and I took the girls out to try to get some shots of them for xmas cards. As I mentioned, they weren't very cooperative for me. Last week Jim was out of town for a few days so I decided to get the girls dressed up again and try a different location. I took them to Sydy's school as I have shot there often and love the light. They did much better. Not great, but much better. Got a couple of cute shots. The evening light is my favorite. I spent a ton of time photographing them at lake george in the evenings over the summer and I just love the lighting. Here are a few of the shots. I have a few more to post, but want to get to the beach pictures!

Look at this light. Straight out of the camera, the sky was beautiful and Sawyer was looking of in the distance.

Calico Critters

Sawyer is really enjoying the Calico Critters these days. She and Sydy will sit forever and play with them. I am happy that she is old enough now to be trusted with the small pieces.

Fire trucks

I will talk more about this tomorrow and post more pictures, but in the meantime, the girls got to see a firetruck at the preschool the other day while I was photographing the students. To say that they were completely enthralled would be an understatement. My girls are so curious and I love it!

Soybean was a little scared of being inside the firetruck, but she loved looking at it from the parking lot.
Sydy couldn't get in the truck fast enough! She loved it!

Photo Session

This past weekend I decided to try to get some nice pictures of the girls for holiday cards. See for yourself what an unbelievably hard time Jim and I had keeping them from running around. I couldn't even get them to sit together. Neither one of them wanted to sit still. They were way too curious. Oh well. Fancy dresses and sweaters and all my efforts may not have resulted in the perfect photos, but they sure did have fun. And they sure are cute little girls. Just expect a very casual candid photo on your holiday cards : )

Happy Birthday Amy!!!

Hope you are having a good one! See you Saturday!

A conversation among sisters

We spent the day at camp today. It was both a fun day and a sad day. We had to pull the boat from the water. It always makes us sad. We spent a lot of time up at camp this summer and we were on the boat any chance we could get.

It was a fun day because we started a fire to warm the house up, we ate lunch and then we took a boat ride on such a beautiful day (wish the leaves had been more colorful). The water was really choppy so we didn't stay out long, but the girls had so much fun. The girls and I took a walk through the woods while Jim scrubbed the boat off. We played at the bay and threw acorns in the water.

On our way home they both crashed. I guess the crisp October air makes babies really tired. Sawyer woke up first and then I woke Sydney up. As we were getting closer to home the girls began to have a conversation with one another!!! It was hysterical. Back and forth they went and in between we could pick up a few words Sawyer was saying. Sydy kept saying "No Sawyer, its on the boat." We have no idea what they were talking about but we were just so shocked at how they continued to chat back and forth. It was priceless. I expect we will start to hear more conversations between the two of them as Sawyer continues to expand her vocabulary.

Rainy days

It was so rainy last week. We were all feeling a bit exhausted from the yucky weather.

I guess Sydney was irritated about the rain too...
Choo choo. Keeping busy inside since we couldn't be outside playing.
Soybean took a long snooze (well, long for her) on the couch. She woke up with the sweetest expressions. Had to run and grab the camera for these shots.
So ti-ti

Can you tell how much my little girl loves her trains!

Soybean enjoyed watching the rain. She was also looking for squirrels.
She thinks she is a big girl! Now she climbs to the sink to wash her hands by herself!
Still wearing her princess dress.
No more pictures!

So Sydney!
