Sawyer

I used to write posts about Sydneyisms.  Her funny things usually involved bugs or princesses - peaceful, funny Sydney traits.  Now I need to start writing posts about Sawyerisms.  No doubt these will involve her mouth!  Mostly good things come out of that mouth, but once in a while, she shocks me!

My conversation with Sawyer while sitting at my parents' house started with telling me about something she and Jared were playing (she had a guitly look on her face).  I asked "Would Mommy be upset if I saw what you were doing?"  Her response, "You didn't saw me." As she runs off to find Jared again.  This is no joke!  My family was sitting right there.  We all had a pretty good laugh about that one.  Love my spirited almost 3 year old!!!

We had a fun weekend!  Papa came late Friday morning to spend the day with us.  Daddy got home at dinner time after a bit of a rough drive in the bad weather.  We spent much of our time this weekend playing with toys, painting projects, taking a quick visit to camp on Saturday, watching football and swimming at the Y.  Busy - but fun weekend.

The girls were having a blast with Papa.  Dancing and carrying on!

Chillin' out to a movie afternoon with Papa.  They got to skip naps so that they could visit with Papa the whole day.  Poor Sawyer was so exhausted by the end of the night that she had a little over tired breakdown.

I love how she smiles and how it changes her face so much.
This picture pretty much summed up Sawyer's mood this afternoon.  No naps for two days and swimming with Mommy this morning really wore her out!  Even a long nap this afternoon didn't fix her mood!

Quiet Time

She wrapped herself up in her new scarf, pulled on her new slippers and sat down to play with her new Leapster.  Thanks Grandma.

First Snow

Well of all days to have a snow storm!  Crap.  Woke up early but didn't get out of bed since the girls actually decided to sleep in.  I knew we had a 9 am appointment with the home appraiser.  I didn't realize that we had gotten 6 inches of snow until I let the dogs out at 7am.  I spent a ton of time getting the girls settled so that I could shovel the end of the driveway that the snow plow trucks buried.  I also cleared the walk way and the top part of the driveway.  I ended up driving the Durango up and down the driveway to stomp the snow down.  Needless to say, the snow blower was buried in the garage and even if it wasn't buried, I wouldn't know how to use it!

Luckily both home appraisers had SUV's so they had no problem getting into the driveway.  What a morning!

The girls had fun playing in the snow this afternoon.  I took them out after nap time for a short time before darkness set in.

Sawyer wasn't thrilled with having to bundle up in her ski suit.  Can you tell how miserable she was from her sour expression!?  She perked up when she got to play in the snow.

Everyday Play

We are trying to keep busy during these long weeks of winter.  I am so thankful that my girls love each other and that they play so well together.

They are loving their wonderful Christmas gifts.  Thanks to our families for making it such a fun year for them.

They are also enjoying the dining room space.  We sold our dining room furniture in preparation for the move and they love dancing and playing in the empty room!

Poor Remi.  Not a moment of peace.  I don't think he minded getting tucked in with the warm blanket.

Camp Day

We went to camp this weekend.  We had a couple of house showings so it was a good excuse to get out of the house to keep it clean.

What a fun day we had.  Jim built a fire right away as the house was freezing!  The girls ran right inside and played with the toys that they haven't seen since early fall.

Love this place.  Love that our girls love this place.  Loved getting away from the stress of my life right now - even if it was only for a day and a half.

Jumping over a sink hole in the yard.  Who needs toys inside when it is 35 degrees outside and there is a big hole to jump over?!?!
I could really get used to this super warm heat.  There is nothing more peaceful than reading by a warm fire.

Overwhelmed

Christmas morning can be a bit overwhelming for a little princess!  Look at her zoned out face!

Peas and Beans

Sawyer likes veggies - not as much as Sydney but close enough.  I steamed peas and beans the other night and Sawyer couldn't get enough.  She finished her serving and then continued to eat the rest of them from the serving bowl!  It was hysterical.

Christmas Tree 2011

With all that we have going on in our lives right now, we decided to keep it pretty simple this year.  Our small but cute Christmas tree.  With aqua LED lights!  Just my style!

Seriously Big Girl

I took this photo of Sawyer a couple of days before Christmas. She had on a cute sweater and looked so grown up.  I love the night sky in the background but I especially love her expression.

Her 3rd birthday is coming up in a few short weeks and I guess there is no more denying what a big girl she is.  She is so beautiful.

Jared

Jared is really big into skateboarding and scootering.  He asked for lots of skater clothes for Christmas this year...the first year he has ever asked for clothes!  Who would have guessed.  I guess that means he is growing up!!  In past years the clothes would literally be tossed over his shoulder in disgust!

I am looking forward to getting some fun urban downtown shots of him with his skater clothes and board.  For now, Nana and Pap Pap's backyard will have to do.

A moment captured...

A peaceful moment with Grandma.  I love this photo.

Christmas

Christmas came to our house and to say that the girls were excited is a true understatement.  Their excitement rubbed off on me too.  Even during these not so easy circumstances, we were able to sit back and enjoy the festivities.

I am too tired to post much more than a picture or two - and to be honest, my holiday photos are not the best this year.  I didn't want to miss a moment of them opening gifts, so I didn't take many photos and they are all just crappy snapshots.  It was worth it to put the camera down quickly and enjoy all of the gift opening.

More to come soon...
