I wish I could say that our vacation day was stress free, but it wasn't. Both girls were a bit moody, so I decided to deflect the moodiness with some silliness. I can usually get some funny faces when I get the camera out and tell them to be goofy.

Snow Day
Monday was a snow day for our district. It was fun having both girls home during the week. I got a few pictures of my goofy girls from our day off together.
Lunch together on the snow day! Soybean was enjoying having Sydney home all day! Me too!
Soybean woke up from her nap in a mood! She doesn't much like to get up from naps, but she wouldn't go to bed at a reasonable time if I let her sleep all afternoon!
The good big sister was trying to get her out of her mood!
Not much else going on around here. Still dealing with yucko weather but at least the warmer weather is coming this weekend. Just in time for Easter. I can't wait to get outside all the time. I'm taking izzy for lots of outdoor walks even though it is still cold! My foot doctor wants my foot to heal more and interestingly enough, the treadmill makes it harder for me to walk "correctly." So she strongly suggested that I get back outside more than the gym. I miss my daily trips to the YMCA but love walking in the evening with the dog. Once the weather gets more reasonable, we take family walks every night. That means I will get two walks in since I will walk again after the girls go to bed! My new ugly shoes are already helping my sore tendons. My orthotics come in at the end of April. I will really be in heaven then. I put off getting orthotics for too long and have been working out too much. Not a good combination.

The Wall
The WALL. The thorn in my side, the pain in my ass, the hardest wall to decorate. I could go on and on about this focal wall in my family room. This wall has haunted me since the day we moved into this house. I tried several methods for decorating this wall and they all were big fat failures. I finally decided on a wall full of brightly colored/whimsical designed frames. I am pleased with the way it turned out. I don't think I can ever be fully happy with anything on this wall as it is a hard wall to decorate. Our family room is in the back of the house and it can be best described as a saltbox design. This means that it slopes from really tall height to standard height. So the one end is 20 plus feet and the other end is 9 feet. My friend came up with the good idea to arrange the frames with the contour of the wall. So start high and taper down. This worked out really well.
It only took me 11 (almost 12) months to complete this space, but I'm glad to be done with it. I'm really glad to not be looking at cut out craft paper as place holders for the frames. That was annoying. Now maybe I can start focusing on all the other areas of my very empty house that need to be decorated. I miss my old house : (

Playful Girl
The one day that I actually had some computer work to get done also happened to be the one day that Sydney didn't want quiet time. I told her that she could play quietly downstairs with me. Pretty light, pretty girl and a great imagination. She told me a long story about her horse and all that things he wanted to eat.
Love having quiet moments with each of the girls separately.

Broken Record
I'm sounding like a broken record here these days, but we've had another week of sickness and another week of Jim being out of town. Grrr. Sydney's classroom was passing around a fever and she got it on Friday! Ugh. She recovered pretty quickly but now Sawyer has it. Poor Sawyer doesn't handle the fever as well as Sydney. So I had to endure a lot of whining today.
And more snow...really! One weekend of 55 degree weather and then the next weekend several inches of snow. No thanks! As most everyone is saying, LET THERE BE SPRING! Please!
Lastly, I am pretty bored with taking pictures inside! So I really don't have much to share, but here are a few.
The girls were coloring their cardboard castle until the fever took over for this one, and she had to stop.
"Mommy, my forehead is hurting me." Poor girl.
Sawyer kept busy crafting while I tucked Sydney into my bed to rest.
Jammies on, all tucked into mommy and daddy's bed.
Then she fell asleep. Poor girl.
Feeling better and ready to play princess with Sawyer Bean!
Tonight I gave the girls a bath early so they decided to read Sydney's library books while I cooked dinner. Sweet girls. We are enjoying the light in the early evening. It gives me hope that we will be outside taking walks and riding bikes in a few short weeks!

Warm and Sunny
We'll take a warm and sunny day in the month of March, for sure! Short lived, but we enjoyed every minute of it.

Nappy Girl
My girls have always been amazing nappers. Even though Sydney doesn't nap anymore, she loves her quiet time. Sawyer lives for naps! But sometimes she is a bear to get up! Ugh! I have found that the best method for waking her up is going to her room and opening the blinds. Calling her from downstairs usually results in her bellowing that she doesn't want to get up! I took the opportunity to get a few more nap pictures of her the other day when I went to wake her up.
I'm Still Here
Between a sinus infection three weeks ago, Jim being in London last week, and then me falling flat on my face with the stomach bug this week, things have been a little bit wacko around here.
I shouldn't complain since we have had an almost illness free winter season. Both girls got a mild runny nose, Syd had a really mild stomach bug on Sunday, I only had one really bad sinus infection, and Jim only had a minor cold. Pretty great for a winter season. This stomach bug wrecked me this week. Spring Break week of all weeks, though. I felt bad that I couldn't take the girls out to do more things while they were off of school.
All is good now! Sydney is having a friend over late this afternoon for a pizza and movie night! Sawyer is really excited too as she really likes Sydney's school friend. I have a feeling that my girls will have lots of mutual friends since they are so close in age and will only be 1 year apart in school. Sawyer tends to play just as well with the older kids. I promised them we could bake a yummy treat, buy a new movie and have pizza with their friend tonight.
