Hiking among the birch trees

We took a drive this afternoon to go explore this beautiful grove of white birch trees. I've been so anxious to find and explore this spot and the beautiful 60 degree day and nothing on our schedule called for a road trip!! We stopped for a nice lunch at a bar/grill that Jim loves, then drove the rest of the way to the natural area.  As soon as we drove up to it, I couldn't believe the beautiful site.  So many beautiful white birch trees all in one spot!! We got out of the car and explored the area.  Took a few fun photos of the girls playing among the trees.  After we hiked around, we got back in the car to drive the an area that is known for sitings of elk. It did not dissapoint.  We barely drove into the area and spotted a large herd of elk feeding in the late afternoon warmth.  What a fun day! Well worth the drive to see the beautiful woods and elk.
