My sweet, precious kind hearted girl. She loves to color pictures for everyone for any occasion. The other day she made a picture for her new school friend. I told her that it was nice to make pictures for a friend but that she needed to color a picture for ALL of her school friends. She raced down to her playroom and made 7 pictures for her 7 school friends. She found wrapping paper and tape and spent a great deal of time wrapping all of her presents. She asked me if she could take them to school for her friends. I told her that I wasn't sure if she would be allowed to bring them in but that I would ask her teacher.
Needless to say, I was hesitant to take them in to school for fear that her friends might not appreciate her efforts and that they might expect a "real" present. I got permission from her teacher and the morning I took the girls in to school Jim also voiced his concerns for our little girl's feelings. We tried to talk to her about the possiblilities that the other kids might forget to say something to her about their present. We told her that we thought it was really special of her to do this but not everyone would remember to say thank you. She was completely unphased by the discussion!
Anyway, I took the packages in and told Mrs. L our concerns. She reassured me that 5 year olds are a different breed and that the kids would likely love the effort she made and might end up going home and coloring their own pages for their school friends too. Needless to say, we were relieved to hear this! She was super happy that afternoon at the bus stop. The kids got to take their present home in their backpacks!!
I love her big heart! Wow, talking about feelings and hurt feelings to your baby is rough!
