I have been a bit busy lately. School schedules and life are keeping me busy.
I am also slowly trying to get this empty shell of a house decorated. We moved in mid April but them I left for camp for two months over the summer.
I have made progress in decorating. Today the girls painted Halloween decorations while I made bubble art for decorations for their bathroom.
Here are some photos of our projects.
I love Pinterest. There are a ton of great decorating, craft, food, photography, etc. ideas and inspirations. I loved this idea for Ghost Footprints. The girls had a great time dipping their feet into paint and putting dots all over their black canvas print.
This was my project. Bubble art. I have tried this form of artwork in the past and both times it was a big fat failure. I picked Sawyer up at school the other day and saw that they had done bubble art. It motivated me to try again. I wanted to do something like this for the girls' bathroom. Excuse the crappy dark pictures, but at least you can see the artwork. The shower curtain is being reflected in the mirror. I did a pretty decent job mixing the paint to get colors similar to the shower curtain. I found inexpensive frames at Michaels this afternoon and nailed them to the wall above the toilet. I am hugely pleased with the results. Now at least I have some stuff on the walls in my bare house!
I did bubble art for these frames in the playroom until I can get a picture of the girls in the frames. The color scheme of the basement will be aqua and light organge.
Speaking of basement, I finally had Jim hang my cable system up on the playroom wall. I purchased this system when we lived in NY but by the time I was ready to hang it, we discovered we were going to be moving. I printed 20 of my favorite recent images of the kids. I printed 4x6 but really need to print them in a larger size. They are a bit small. I like that I can change the pictures for next to nothing and always keep my favorite snap shots in such a visible spot. We spend lots of time in this space!

I have painters coming at the end of October to get this space painted for the girls. I just can't stand builder beige! The big two toned aqua frame on the one side of the window was meant to go upstairs, but it was too huge for the space I had in mind for it. It dawned on me how well it would match my theme down here and it fits perfectly along this big basement window. I am getting the same one for the other side of the window. One for artwork and one with a picture of the girls. My other plan for this space is to do a small chalkboard on the lower half of this same wall, right below the window. I did a chalkboard wall in our first home in NY. I did it in playroom for the older kids. They enjoyed the chalkboard wall when they came for their summer visits. I hope Syd and Sawyer will like their new one too.
